For a minimal fee, this breast pump service checks your breast pumps motor pressure, speed and all the parts to make sure everything is working properly and there are not cracks or problems with anything since its last use when using your breast pump. Once that initial inspection has been completed and no problems were detected, we then proceed to clean your bag and outer faceplate of the breastpump with a hospital grade cleaning solution to assure a professional clean.
We DO NOT clean the inside of the breastpump bag, the inside of the breast pump motor nor do we clean any of your breast pump spare parts. All parts which include, tubing, breast shields, connectors, membranes and anything else that may have been stored in your bag will be placed in a bag and given to you before we even collect your breastpump for cleaning. This assures that no parts will be misplaced. It is suggested that all spare parts be tossed away due to bacterial concerns and a new package of breast pump parts be purchased when the time comes for you to use your breastpump again.
The bag is then sealed and packaged for your convenience to store for your next little arrival. Please allow at least one week for turn around.
If the breast pump motor unit is determined to not be working at its fullest potential, the minimal fee charged to check the motor unit can be applied towards the purchase of a new dual breast pump at Sweet Beginnings. Please note that we "match" all local competitors prices on all breastpumps! Please stop into our boutique to take advantage of all our on-going breast pump specials. Make Sweet Beginnings a part of your baby registry, let us know and receive a special coupon for our boutique.
The breast pumps that we are able to test are all Medela breast pumps, Hygeia Breast pumps and Ameda breastpumps. As for other pumps on the market, we unfortunately do not carry thet parts/pieces for those pumps as well as do not have the pressure/speed index to know what levels they need to be at for proper testing. These are also the breast pumps we carry at our boutique due to their high levels of accuracy and capability for a nursing momma.
*Please note that Sweet Beginnings in regards to borrowing a previously used breastpump, agrees with the FDA and Medela which both classify Pump in Styles as single user pumps. They are an ''open loop'' system (unlike the rental pumps which are a closed loop system). There are cases where milk can back up into the tubing, and into the internal breast pump diaphram, which cannot be removed and sterilized. Sweet Beginnings DOES NOT clean inside the breastpump motor unit.
