Dr. Sears L.E.A.N. Expectations

L.E.A.N. Expectations is a series of educational workshops that teach expectant and nursing mothers how to care for themselves and their babies. The program is made up of three separate workshops, each two hours long, that can be taken in sequence or individually. Dr. Sear's years of experience make each class relevant to moms in all stages of pregnancy, whether they are carrying their first baby or their fifth.

Part 1: Prepare RIGHT Now – Choices that turn your pregnancy into a healthy new beginning.Focus: Preparing for pregnancy, stages of pregnancy, Lifestyle, Exercise, & Attitude

Part 2: Eat RIGHT Now – Experiencing optimal nutrition during pregnancy and beyond. Focus: Nutrition before, during and after pregnancy.
Part 3: Live RIGHT Now – Making a smooth transition from pregnancy to
motherhood. Focus: Taking care of mom while taking care of a new baby (Dr. Sears’ “ 7 Baby B’s”)

Childbirth Education (4 week series)

A fun interactive series that will prepare expectant parents for birth.  Beyond typical hospital procedures and policies, this evidence-based, CAPPA certified class will give you the tools to manage labor and all that comes with it to create the best possible birth experience for your family.  

Topics covered will include:

  • Pregnancy nutrition
  • Easing third trimester aches and pains
  • The labor process
  • Relaxation and comfort measures
  • Birth philosophies
  • Pain management and medications, with a focus on natural birth
  • Cesarean birth
  • Newborn procedures and the postpartum period 

Breastfeeding will also be discussed, but taking a class focused on this specific topic is encouraged.  Expectant mothers should attend with their partners.  Handouts and a workbook are included. Class size is limited to ensure all students leave feeling prepared for this important life event!

*Minimum 3 couples per class or cancellation is required

Private and Refresher Courses, to fit your schedule are also available.

Date: Thursday Nights (4 weeks series)

Begin dates: Aug 5th, Sept 2nd, Oct 7th,

November series dates are as follows: Nov 4, 11, 18 & Dec 2nd (due to holiday)

December series are as follows: Dec 9, 16th,23rd,30th.

Time: 6pm-9pm
Cost: $150 per couple

Childbirth Express


This one-day class is for those who are unable to attend a regular childbirth education series. Although we recommend a longer class, this one will help you if you are short on time. Homework and reading will be given to fill you in. If this is not your first pregnancy, you may want reminders of what is available to you, how to participate fully, and what your support person can do to help during the labor and birth. Since baby care and breastfeeding issues are not covered you are encouraged to attend one of these classes for a review. There will be an update on pain relief options and hospital practices. This class will provide:

  • Practice in labor and pushing techniques
  • Overview of labor and delivery
  • Childbirth choices
  • Active birth
  • Communicating with caregiver
  • When to go to the hospital
  • Tried and True Comfort Measures and Support Techniques Comfort measure practice
  • Relaxation and visualization practice
  • Overcoming challenges in labor

Participants will receive a workbook and additional handouts. Please bring a pillow and snacks for the day.  You may bring a lunch or order from any of the several restaurants in walking distance during the break. 

Date: EVERY OTHER month every Sunday (please visit calendar)

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Cost: $85 per couple

Teen Mom Preparation Class

This class is designed to provide educational and emotional support to young mothers and fathers preparing for childbirth and parenthood. The topics covered will include: 

  • Touching on the present:  pregnancy-the positives and negatives; support systems-the importance of and utilizing them; changes in relationships-friends/family/boyfriends etc.....
  • Understanding labor's progress: the physical (stages of labor etc. and what they can expect in terms they will understand) and emotional aspects (discussing fears and concerns etc...)
  • Welcoming baby: practical newborn care (diapers, bathing, feeding (breast or bottle); bonding with baby; emotions after birth-"baby blues" and etc... 
  • Breastfeeding (this section is taught by a lactation consultant)

*This class will provide you with plenty of resources and a support network.  We discuss childbirth, breastfeeding and newborn care.

Date: Sept. 25th
Time: 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Cost: $40 per person/couple

Bradley Method®

The Bradley Method® is one of the most comprehensive childbirth classes available, covering all aspects of pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. These classes will provide preparation for natural childbirth while cultivating acceptance of all outcomes. I will present to you a consumer-oriented, woman and family-centered approach, whichemphasizes meeting challenges and nurturing yourselves and your baby for the best possible start in your child’s life. This course is focused toward couples who want to educate themselves about the birth process and whose goal is a natural, gentle childbirth.
Classes focus on:

  • Exercise and Nutrition
  • Stages of Labor
  • Trusting your body during the labor process
  • Relaxation and Visualization
  • Pros, cons, and alternatives to medical interventions Creating a birth plan
  • Preparing for unexpected situations
  • Breastfeeding
  • Postpartum Recovery and Newborn care

Classes are supplemented with videos, visual aids, and hands-on practice.

REFRESHER for Bradley Method®

This class is designed for couples who have previously taken the full Bradley Method class series.  We will review the stages of labor, coaching techniques, and the various positions for labor, birth plans, and the relaxation techniques taught by the Bradley Method.

Meet The Doulas

Labor Doulas are trained childbirth professionals who provide non-medical assistance to pregnant women and their families in preparation for childbirth and during labor. This can include identifying birth goals and strategies, providing additional evidence-based education and resources, hands-on emotional and physical support, and advocating for mothers choices during childbirth.

  • Having a Doula assisted birth has proven to:
  • Reduce cesarean rates by 50%
  • Reduce the length of labor by 25%
  • Reduce the use of Pitocin by 40%
  • Reduce the need for pain medication by 30%
  • Reduce the requests for epidural pain management by 60 %
  • Increase mom's self image
  • Increase satisfaction in the overall birth experience
  • Improve the relationship between mom and partner.

Happiest Baby On The Block


Sleepless nights, crying baby, marital stress? Learn an extraordinary approach to calming your baby. New parents will learn step-by-step how to help babies sleep longer and how to soother even the fussiest infant in minutes…or less! The class includes: the missing 4th trimester, the calming reflex, the 5 S’s and the Cuddle Cure. Open to expecting and new parents.


Date: Once every other month on the 4th Saturday

Time: 10am-12pm
Cost: $10 per couple

Congratulations on your upcoming arrival! This class covers baby basics such as

  • Tips on bonding with baby

Other topics discussed include but are not limited to development and milestones, safety and more!  Come with questions and we will be sure to help answer them for you.
