Meet the Doula's Night
"Meet The Doula's Night" is a casual meet-and-greet with several doulas. Join other new and expectant parents in learning more about the benefits of birth and postpartum doula services. You will also receive an overview of what it is that doulas do, understand how dads/partners and doulas work together, and discover how to find the right doula for you.

What to expect?
The doulas will be available to answer questions, offer personalized referrals, and represent some of the wonderful variety of people, backgrounds, and skills you can find in birth and postpartum doulas. Time is also given for brief “get acquainted” interviews with individual doulas, typical doula costs,

What is a doula?
Doula is an ancient Greek word for "a woman experienced in childbirth who serves another woman during her childbirth time". She is dedicated to serving and supporting the mother in whatever way is needed, from helping to focus on breathing and relaxation, to comforting massage during labor, to teaching/reviewing the birth process in discussions. She adds to the mother and partners education, and boosts confidence by her warm and caring presence. The Doula does not replace the partner, doctor, nurse, or midwife, but works together with them to ensure that the mother has the optimum birth experience. A doula is a woman who helps women and their families through labor and birth. Here are some of the statistical changes in a birth that a doula makes.

Benefits of having a trained Doula:
During labor: *50% reduction in the cesarean rate *25% shorter labor *60% reduction in epidural requests *40% reduction in oxytocin use *30% reduction in analgesia use *40% reduction in forceps delivery
After birth: *Improved breastfeeding *Increased time spent

Daddy Boot Camp

Boot camp

The Best First Gift a father can give...
his baby, his family, himself.

At Boot Camp for New Dads, expectant fathers explore and experience fatherhood by engaging with “veteran” dads and their 3 – 5 month old babies.  Veteran dads bring their babies, and share their recent experiences from before, during and after child-birth. They share their wisdom, their mistakes, their triumphs and their frustrations. Expectant, or “Rookie” dads bring their unique questions and concerns to a 3-hour session structured by a Boot Camp coach to provide as much information and interaction as possible.  The time is well spent. This course equips “rookies” dads to take the life-changing step of fatherhood very well, and prepares them to avoid dozens of mistakes, head-aches and general regrets along the way.

Instructor: Schuyler Totman

  • October 23rd
  • November 13th
