Babies & Pets: Blending the 2 together?
Many people are concerned about the four-legged family members when it comes time to bring the new baby home. Our pets can be anxious about this new noise-generating, odd-smelling, attention-monopolizing being in the house. Does the animal wonder 1) "When is this thing going to leave?" 2) "How can I make this go away?" 3) "Oh! something else to love!" Perhaps these and other questions you have regarding your pets and the new baby will come to light at our presentation about introducing children to a home with pets. PRESENTERS:
Mary Anne Smith DVM: My years in practice afforded me 5+ years as an associate veterinarian, 5+ years at an emergency hospital practitioner and relief practice, and 20 years as a practice partner/owner.
My favorite things are the outdoors, birds, livestock, and wildlife. I love my family and friends and surgery and medicine!
Karen Nielsen : I am a veterinary assistant and have lived in Littleton for 30 years. I have two grown children and three grandchildren. I love my family and the outdoors. I volunteered at Birds of Prey Rehabilitation Foundation and have done some Canine Search and Rescue training. I love my companion animals and horses. I do pet sitting and I enjoy working with and training family dogs.
"Teagan" Nielsen: I am a 3 year old Golden Retriever although my human "mom" calls me a Golden Receiver. This is because I will only fetch when I receive attention and prefer the attention to the fetch part of the equation. I have been told I am unusual because I don't care for treats but I am well-trained anyway. I love my "mom" and my family and my chew toys and bones.
