Play 2 Talk: Language Development Workshop

After a child is born, most conversations revolve around motor skills.   "The baby will roll over at this age, crawl around this time" etc.   We don't often hear too much about speech and language development in infants and toddlers.

For instance, when should a baby start babbling?  When should a child start sounding out words?   How about combining words? Following one-step directions?  When should certain sounds start  developing?  What is interactive reading?  What are some ways, as a parent, I can encourage language development and help my child learn to express emotions, wants and needs better?  What do I do if my child isn't developing speech or using words by a certain age?  All of these questions. . . and so much more. . . will be answered in this fascinating workshop.

This workshop is facilitated by a Speech Language Pathologist with over 10 years of experience working with the Birth through Five-year-old population. Come and learn about speech and language milestones, increasing language, and what to do if you do become worried about your child's speech and/or language skills.  Not only will you receive lots of information and have a chance to ask questions pertaining to speech and language development, but you will  leave with a plethora of tips and strategies, which you can start using that very day to help develop your child's speech and language skills!

* Cost is $25 per individual/couple

* This class is offered on a monthly basis. Please visit the link above and visit our "Specialty Classes/Workshop" tab  to register for this workshop.

Cloth Diapering 101
STOP all the researching! When it comes to cloth diapers, there is too much information out there, and it is overwhelming! Why waste your time on the computer when you can come by, sit for a workshop, get all your questions answered and learn things you hadn't even thought to ask all along. Best part of it all, you get to touch the cloth diapers along with accessories such as doublers, inserts, wet bags, pail liners, stay-dry liners, snappi's, etc... and play with them all.

What about the smell?
Do I really have to soak them?
How much longer will it take for me to change my little one?
What about the washing?
How many do I need to start with?

These questions and more will be answered.

* Must pre register to attend due to space and give-aways. Discounts offered the day of class for purchases/PRE-orders

Baby Wearing 101
Whether you're an expecting parent or already have a little one, this class is for you. We will be discussing different types of carriers such as pouches, ring slings, Mei Tei's and stretchy wraps, pros and cons of each, as well as demonstrating and helping to properly size you in the most comfortable carrier for your and your little one.

With the proper fitting, babies can be carried for several years. You can try on all of our demos to see what works best with you and your baby, bring your own carriers and learn how to wear them "properly" for the correct positioning of your little one, and learn what baby carriers are the best for newborns vs. older babies.

We'll also discuss which carriers may cause some concerns when it comes to placement of the babies hips, legs, spine and neck.

There are more out there than the ones you just see at the big box stores, and we will discuss why we don't carry specific types.
