Birth Plans for Momma and Baby
Making a Birth Plan
This class is specifically designed to help you make informed decisions about your birth preferences and wishes for you and your baby during labor and delivery experiences. We will discuss many different questions and options to consider based on current evidence and research, how best to organize and write it effectively and help you and your partner make educated decisions on what is best for your family. Though this parenting class can be taken anytime throughout your pregnancy, it is recommended to take it sooner rather than later when considering your childbirth education options. It will give your partner and yourself the knowledge to empower yourselves and the time to sit back and develop your plans together.
The first half will focus on choices for the mother, and the second half will focus on choices for the baby during the critical few hours post delivery.
This workshop is team taught by a Certified Labor Doula as well as a Nurse Practitioner/ Certified Nurse Midwife.

Pet Meets Baby: Blending the 2 together?
Bringing a new baby home can be an exciting time and a little harrowing for new parents. Many people are concerned about the four-legged family members when it comes time to bring the new baby home. Our pets can be anxious about this new noise-generating, odd-smelling, attention-monopolizing being in the house. Although this time is one of transition for household pets, it doesn't need to be a time of anxiety.
We will address any concerns you may have and present ideas to make the introduction easier for all involved.
Bio's on our instructors
Mary Anne Smith DVM Denver native, CSU graduate 1978, and I have enjoyed companion animal practice since that time. I worked as a preceptor at the Denver Zoo upon graduation, have worked with the Birds or Prey Rehabilitation Foundation and various wildlife rehabilitators. I have a passion for general companion animal practice! My years in practice afforded me 5+ years as an associate veterinarian, 5+ years at an emergency hospital practitioner and relief practice, and 20 years as a practice partner/owner.
My favorite things are the outdoors, birds, livestock, and wildlife. I love my family and friends and surgery and medicine!
Karen Nielsen : I am a veterinary assistant and have lived in Littleton for 30 years. I have two grown children and three grandchildren. I love my family and the outdoors. I volunteered at Birds of Prey Rehabilitation Foundation and have done some Canine Search and Rescue training. I love my companion animals and horses. I do pet sitting and I enjoy working with and training family dogs.
"Teagan" Nielsen: I am a 3 year old Golden Retriever although my human "mom" calls me a Golden Receiver. This is because I will only fetch when I receive attention and prefer the attention to the fetch part of the equation. I have been told I am unusual because I don't care for treats but I am well-trained anyway. I love my "mom" and my family and my chew toys and bones.

Elimination Communication Class
Elimination Communication
Avoid future pains of potty training! Learn how to communicate with your infant or toddler about their bathroom needs, and easily build a healthy, happy relationship with the bathroom from the beginning. This practice is followed worldwide and is known as Elimination Communication, Natural Infant Hygiene, and Infant Potty Training. The process involves observing one's baby's signs and signals, providing cue sounds and elimination-place associations, and can be done with or without any diaper use. What you learn in this class is best started when the child is under 6 months of age. Yes my husband thought I was crazy, but he is now a believer.
